Tim Sylvia vs Ray Mercer Video Update

Tim Sylvia vs. Ray Mercer, according to cbs42.com news, a fight promoted for two months took an interesting turn Thursday. Local boxer Ray Mercer and MMA fighter Tim Sylvia were supposed to go head to head in a boxing match this weekend at "MMA Adrenaline" at the BJCC.

But after several weeks of training, a call came down from Greg Sirb, ABC commissioner in Pennsylvania saying this was an illegal fight. Today, promoter Monte Cox held a news conference to call off the bout. But to even his amazement, the fighters wouldn't back down and a new fight emerged as the two men verbally agreed to an MMA showdown. Well, Ray Mercer told The Birmingham News that he simply plans to box against Sylvia tonight at the BJCC.

Tim Sylvia showed up in blogger-shape at 310 pounds at weigh-ins on Friday. He has to make a cut to 265 pounds to face Paul Buentello in August.

Would still fans be excited to have the big fight turned into a boxing fight?
